Baby Safety Answers!

Q: Which room is called the hot spot for injuries?

A: More injuries occur in the kitchen than in any other room – consider these safety tips:

  • Cook food on back burners whenever possible, with the handles of pots and pans facing the back of the stove.
  • Keep your child out of the kitchen when food is being frying. Oil and fat can reach temperatures that cause severe burns.
  • Do not hold a hot beverage while carrying your child.
  • Use place mats instead of tablecloths so your child cannot pull hot food down on top of himself.
  • If you have a water dispenser, request a child-safe hot water lever.
